Golden State Foods Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the food industry services firm of the same name, has ramped its giving efforts in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Irvine-based Golden State Foods, which had $5 billion in 2019 sales, continues its food supplies and logistics services. CEO and Chairman Mark Wetterau also told the Business Journal charity remains a priority, particularly in public health and for children and families.
GSF associates “support the communities where they live and work through the non-profit,” Wetterau said.
The Foundation has funneled some $200,000 in grants to food banks nationally since the start of the pandemic. GSF’s regional divisions have contributed locally. In Southern California that includes:
• City of Industry Manufacturing: $10,000 each to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County and Feeding America (Riverside/San Bernardino)
• Quality Custom Distribution Los Angles: $25,000 to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank
• The Irvine Committee: $10,000 to Second Harvest Food Bank of OC
