FlightPath3D Gearing up for More In-Flight Digital Map Demand

Airplane passengers want to know the details of their journey while literally up there in the clouds, and FlightPath3D is expanding its digital map operations to meet the demand.

In January, the privately held company relocated from Lake Forest to new offices in the Irvine Spectrum district, expanding to about 4,500 square feet—roughly four times its previous space—and adding three key executives to support its global expansion.

FlightPath3D says its colorful, detailed, “immersive” maps are now on more than 5,000 commercial aircraft and 1,500 business and government aircraft worldwide.

The company has approximately 70 employees and an office in Portugal. It was included on the 2025 Inc. 5000 list, which ranks private U.S. companies by percentage revenue growth from 2021 to 2024.

“The in-flight map remains the foundation of our company, but the opportunity ahead is far broader,” FlightPath3D President Duncan Jackson said on March 12.

The new headquarters includes engineering labs and client collaboration areas that support product development, client-driven innovation and customer demonstrations.

“We’re embracing advanced data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), video-based interactions, and more to craft the next chapter of travel: personalized, immersive, and effortlessly enjoyable,” the company says on its website.

New Space in Irvine

“We are constantly pushing boundaries on what is possible with the in-flight map
experience and are committed to continuing that innovative streak,” CEO Boris Veksler said.

Recent enhancements build on the core map and include the Kids Map for the younger set as well as the Accessibility Map for travelers with visual, motor and/or cognitive impairments.

The company’s Luci is an AI-powered in-flight companion delivering live flight details, personalized travel tips and personalized, branded promotions linked to airline loyalty platforms.

Key New Hires for Expansion

Here are the three new key hires:

• Prashant Vyas, vice president, Middle East, provides dedicated sales and account management in that region. His previous experience includes roles at Thales, Safran Passenger Innovations and Panasonic Avionics.
• Howie Lewis joins as vice president of Business Aviation, bringing extensive inflight and connectivity experience, including leadership roles at Gogo, Airshow and EMS Satcom.
• AI integration is a critical growth area for FlightPath3D. Now driving that effort is Ross Derham, who joins as director of product management. His experience includes stints with Boeing and Meta.

FlightPath3D expanded its engineering operations in Portugal in 2025.

In-flight maps have proven to be popular with passengers. Other companies in the field include Irvine-based Panasonic Avionics.
