About 350 attorneys and business executives attended the final Business Journal event of the year, the 14th annual General Counsel Awards, held on Nov. 14 at the Irvine Marriott.
Erwin Chemerinsky, dean of the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, again hosted the event as the master of ceremonies.
There was no shortage of jokes that evening, touching on topics from the election to the Los Angeles Dodgers’ World Series win.
This year’s five winners covered a wide array of industries—from medical aesthetics to auto services—and were selected out of more than 50 individuals and companies, many of whom were past students of Chemerinsky.

This year’s five honorees are:
• Jeffrey Plumer, general counsel and corporate secretary of Evolus Inc., in the Public Company category.
