A 2,962-square-foot house with “white water ocean views” sold for $10 million, per a Homes.com listing.
The beachfront residence at 1111 E. Balboa Blvd. in Newport Beach spent 39 days on the market and sold for 5% below the listing price on Jan. 27.
Representing the undisclosed seller on the deal was Chris Brigandi of Newport Beach-based Arbor Real Estate, with Kristin Barry of the same company co-listing the house.
The buyer’s agent was Matt Genova, also of Arbor Real Estate.
The three-level single-family house was built in 2001 and has five bedrooms with 4.5 bathrooms. All five bedrooms are on the upper level. Both the primary bedroom and family room feature fireplaces.
On a clear day, the beach-facing parts of the house have a view of Catalina Island.
The house, which also features an attached two-car garage, was described on its listing as providing “the ideal backdrop for coastal living.”
“Bright and airy interiors are filled with natural light, perfectly framing … coastline views,” the house’s listing said.
The buyer bought the home for $3,376 per square foot.
Balboa Peninsula Point
The 2,962-square-foot house is located on Balboa Peninsula Point, steps away from Balboa Pier and Peninsula Park. Homes.com described the neighborhood as “secluded” and “on the very eastern edge of the peninsula.”
Lindsay Clark-Sheilds, who sells homes in the area for Engel & Völkers Laguna Beach, was quoted by Homes.com as saying Balboa Peninsula Point is a “bubble.”
“You can take advantage of touristy areas like Balboa Village, but you’re far enough away that you don’t get the traffic,” Shields said on Homes.com. “It’s not an island, but it almost is.”
The peninsula is flanked by Newport Harbor on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other. The Newport Harbor side of the peninsula is dominated by boats and private docks. Beach volleyball games and sunbathers are often found on the Pacific Ocean side of the peninsula.
At the far edge of Balboa Peninsula Point is The Wedge, Newport Beach’s famous surfing spot. Other landmarks nearby include Dory Fishing Fleet Market and the Balboa Island Ferry.
