5-Bedroom Corona del Mar Estate Sells for $24.5M

Corona del Mar’s housing market is off to a fast start for 2025—and the year has not yet reached the halfway point.

Agents at Luxe Real Estate/The Daftarian Group sold the house at 4700 Surrey Drive in Corona del Mar for $24.5 million, a near record-breaking price for the Newport Beach village.

The five-bedroom, 10-bathroom estate on one acre of land north of Pacific Coast Highway was once owned by Byron Roth, executive chain of Roth Capital Partners.

The sale price of $24.5 million on public records, included personal property and fixtures, which were added to the transaction, according to Paul Daftarian, who represented the buyer.

Daftarian said the sale price was the highest ever for the Cameo Highlands area of Corona del Mar, the non-coastal section of town located north of Pacific Coast Highway.

The $24.5 million price tag was also the third-most expensive house ever sold in Corona del Mar, according to a social media post by The Daftarian Group.

Corona del Mar’s most expensive houses are typically located south of Pacific Coast Highway.

Daftarian confirmed the house was bought by a local buyer. He added the house was sold on a quick turnaround—as many as 10 prospective buyers only had two days to view the property, due to the house being occupied during the sale process.

Escrow closed May 1, according to Homes.com. It was the third time the house at 4700 Surrey Drive changed hands in less than five years, according to public records.

Roth sold the home for $20 million in December 2021. That buyer, who sold the home for $18.5 million in October 2023, earned a profit of $6 million.

Daftarian said the sale of 4700 Surrey Drive means there is still some appreciation in Orange County’s luxury homes market.

4700 Surrey Drive was built in 2011 and measures 12,977 square feet. Some of its amenities include a wine cellar, home office, library, game room, dance studio, gym, access to a golf course and views of Newport Harbor and the Pacific Ocean.

Luxe Real Estate/The Daftarian Group represented both the buyer and seller. Daftarian was the agent for the buyer, while Ruby Wang represented the seller. Michael Balliet was the co-listing agent, on behalf of the seller. n
