IN THE NEWS: In May, Big Brothers Big Sisters teamed up with former NBA star Josh Childress and the Childress Family Foundation to launch a new initiative that uses sports as a platform to connect youth with positive role models in OC and the Inland Empire through the organization’s Sports Buddies program. Organizations aim to serve more youth, particularly those on the agency’s waitlist, by building connections between young people and mentors through group sports experiences.
NOTABLE: Organization recognized on the Business Journal’s list of Best Places to Work. 90 paid workers in OC and 2,366 local volunteers as of December 2024.
QUOTABLE: “Sports opened doors for me, but it was the role models in my life—my brothers, my coaches—who helped me walk through them. This collaboration is about offering that same kind of guidance to young people—from mentors who believe in them and help them see what’s possible.”
