WHY: Ueberroth’s interest in harbor development traces back to 1990s when his marina management company, BellPort Group, managed over 50% of the commercial slips in Newport Harbor and expanded throughout the West Coast, Mexico and Japan. In 2006 bought Bellingham Marine, which is the world’s largest builder of marinas, having built 10K+ projects, and over 100 marinas on the West Coast.
IN THE NEWS: Bellingham Marine is overseeing the $180M Dana Point marina project, part of the larger revitalization of the city’s harbor. Completion slated by 2027, in time for LA28.
