WHY: Began firm in 2010 with four other partners who have extensive experience in real estate and involvement in Orange County, including Mohannad Malas, who is a trustee at the UC Irvine Foundation. Other Managing Partners Amer Kasm and Samir Patel are equally active in the day-to-day operations of the firm, along with Amer Malas. IRA Capital operates as a private equity firm focused on alternative investments and is among the largest private buyers of medical and healthcare real estate in the country. The firm invests capital for its own account and on behalf of its co-investment partners, which include family offices, endowments, and institutional investors (pension and sovereign wealth funds). IRA Capital has completed over $4B in transactions involving 150+ properties and more than 12M square feet across the United States.
IN THE NEWS: Its Von Alton I LLC applied with the city of Irvine to build 426 for-sale condominiums on a 25.4-acre site at the northwest corner of Alton Parkway and Von Karman Avenue. Acquired the existing 9-building VKCC office campus from Blackstone in 2023 and spent 30 months vacating tenants in preparation for the redevelopment, which is expected to generate over $660 million in sales upon completion.
NOTABLE: Irvine holdings include 150K-square-foot former Anduril headquarters at the corner of Michelson and Jamboree. Is finalizing a $20M renovation at its 140-unit San Clemente Senior Villas. Recently announced a new 200K+ SF R&D development with Glaukos. IRA Capital previously owned Glaukos’ headquarters campus in Aliso Viejo.
