WHY: President of Sequoia Climate Foundation, one of the world’s biggest players in philanthropy geared towards combating climate change and promoting clean energy. Funded by Fred Taylor on richest list.
NOTABLE: Sequoia is based in Irvine and has office space at TGS’s longtime HQ in the city. As of last year, the foundation has given $926M over 330 grants. Ulman is reported to be the first hire for the group. Previously worked on climate issues with the U.S. government and as climate director for London’s Children’s Investment Fund Foundation. Earned a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University and a BSc from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
