Laguna Beach-based hotel owner and operator Soul Community Planet (SCP) has acquired its first international hotel in Costa Rica – the 189-acre Casa Corcovado Jungle Lodge.
The property, which will be renamed SCP Corcovado Wilderness Lodge, was purchased in partnership with Wisconsin-based Hovde Properties from its original developer Steven Lill. The price wasn’t disclosed.
The lodge includes 14 garden villas, a beach house, and a full-service restaurant on the Osa Peninsula.
Marking SCP’s ninth property, renovations and upgrades are planned for the entire facility along with the rebrand during the next two years. Opening rates will start at $800 per day.
“The soon-to-be-renamed SCP Corcovado Wilderness Lodge is an exotic destination for adventure-minded, eco-focused travelers who seek immersive, unique, regenerative experiences not found in main-stream resorts,” Founder and Chief Executive Ken Cruse said in a statement.
SCP, a hospitality company launched in 2018 by former Sunstone Hotel Investors CEO Cruse, has a goal of acquiring around 20 new locations by the end of 2023. SCP has added four hotels to its portfolio since 2021, including the upcoming SCP Laguna Beach currently under renovations.
