Wet Seal Surges, PacSun Up Modestly

Foothill Ranch-based Wet Seal Inc. continued its turnaround with a 51% rise in July sales at stores open at least a year, while Anaheim-based Pacific Sunwear of California saw a 4% gain in same-store sales for the month.

Wet Seal said Thursday its July sales for all stores rose 15% to $37.6 million. The company closed three stores during the period.

Pacific Sunwear reported $111 million in sales for all stores for July, a 14% increase, led by its PacSun chain, which sells surfwear and other clothes. Sales at the company’s d.e.m.o. chain, which sells urban styles, were flat.
