Irvine-based Westec InterActive, which offers video and other monitoring services to businesses, has raised $20 million in funding.
The company plans to use the money for acquisitions and technology. Beverly Hills-based Clarity Partners LP provided $17.5 million.
Gerald Vento, Westec Interactive’s chief executive and majority owner, provided $2.5 million in funding.
Vento founded Arlington, Va.-based wireless company TeleCorp PCS Inc., which AT & T; Corp. bought for nearly $5.7 billion in 2002.
Earlier in his career, Vento ran a precursor to what today is Sprint PCS Group.
Vento bought Westec InterActive Security Inc. in November from Newport Beach-based ClearLight Partners LLC and Japan’s Secom Ltd.
Westec Interactive was combined with Vento’s Florida-based Level 5 Security, a company he started in 2003. Both companies are part of Vento Group.
Westec provides video monitoring services for auto dealerships, convenience stores, restaurants, drug stores and other businesses.
The company has about 150 workers, many at Westec’s video monitoring and communications center in Irvine.
