The luxury market in Orange County is booming. This year’s home sales above the $10 million mark are poised to nearly double from the heights of the last housing bubble, thanks to low interest rates and a well-performing stock market, CoreLogic analysts say.
So what does $10 million get you across Orange County?
In Newport Coast you’ll find yourself the owner of a resort-like Pelican Hill Mediterranean manor with 50-mile views, profiled below.
In Yorba Linda, $10 million buys a newly constructed cliffside estate on more than 3 acres of California desert-inspired property, complete with drought-friendly landscaping and a meditation garden lined with trees. The modern-style mansion, which encompasses 8,320 square feet of meticulously designed space, offers a whole-home Crestron system, 13-person home theater, 1,200-bottle temperature-controlled wine room, and a basketball court—all topped off with space for a helipad.
The same price point gets you a 5,000-square-foot, three-story custom modern masterpiece in Corona del Mar. The home, designed by Costa Mesa-based Brandon Architects, is situated on a 5,000-square-foot waterfront lot and has an elevator that accesses a private rooftop view deck, where you’ll find a wet bar, fire pit, spa, and ample space to take in 180-degree views of Balboa Island and the mouth of the bay.
A three-bedroom, three-bath, 2,500-square-foot restyled contemporary home billed as a “Laguna Beach retreat” also is available for just under $10 million. Its promontory location in Laguna Beach grants views that include white water, rock outcroppings, miles of coastline and Catalina Island. Contemporary finishes, including imported stone flooring, glass and stainless-steel railings, and walls of windows complete the modern look.
Resort-Like Living
The European-inspired estate at 3 Canyon Point in Newport Cast sold on Aug. 15 for $10.8 million, down from its April list price of $11.75 million.
The home rests on a 23,000-square-foot, west-facing lot where the 50-mile ocean view stretches from Newport Coast to Palos Verdes. Many of its rooms have unimpeded views of the sea and sky.
Coffered ceilings, marble floors, custom woodwork and scrolling iron stair railings are among the 9,200-square-foot home’s many designer touches. It has five bedrooms, seven baths, a wood-paneled study, media room and workout room.
Rex McKown and Marcy Weinstein of Surterre Properties represented the seller in the transaction, and Yubo Mu of Realty One Group Inc. acted as the buyer’s agent.
Chateau on the Bay
The six-bedroom, six-bath home at 3352 Bounty Circle in Huntington Beach sold on Aug. 26 for $5.7 million in a closed sale.
The classic 6,083-square-foot French Mediterranean, built by Harbour Bay Homes Development, is on a 7,029-square-foot lot on the main channel, offering 130 feet of water frontage complemented by tri-channel views.
Among its amenities are a French-style gourmet kitchen, a library/home office, three interior fireplaces, and an elevator. Outside there’s a 70-foot travertine cantilevered deck with a waterfront spa overlooking the bay.
Sean Stanfield of HÔM Sotheby’s International represented the seller and buyer.
Short Walk to the Barn
The equestrian estate at 6505 E. Woodview Circle, situated on 1.1 acres in the heart of Orange, sold on June 29 for $3.6 million, under its April list price of $3.8 million. The home is in the equestrian community of Orange Park Acres, which is known for expansive horse properties, stables and riding trails.
The custom-designed Mediterranean home brings together six bedrooms, seven bathrooms and 9,700 square feet of living space.
Its gourmet kitchen includes a 12-foot island, a prep sink, double oven, and six-burner range surrounded by cherry wood cabinetry and hand-selected granite. The state-of-the-art smart home system has a fully integrated iPad with controlled lighting, climate control, indoor and outdoor sound system, surveillance system, elevator, and home theater with high-definition projector.
The professionally landscaped grounds include a saltwater swimming pool and spa, a sports court, and an entertainment terrace with views of the park-like grounds to the hills beyond.
Victor Vasu of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage worked on behalf of the buyer and seller.
