La Casa Pacifica, once home to President Richard Nixon and also known as the Western White House, is back on the market with an asking price of $63.5 million.
It was publicly listed for sale in April 2015 for $75 million. The property was relisted for $69 million last April, then taken off the market in October.
The world-renowned San Clemente estate at 4100 Calle Isabella has been the site of numerous social and political events over the years. Seventeen heads of state visited during the time the former president lived in the home, including Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev, Japanese Prime Minister Eisaku Sato, South Vietnam President Nguyen Van Thieu and President Lyndon B. Johnson, who spent his 61st birthday there.
In 1980, Nixon sold the oceanfront estate to Gavin Herbert, founder of drugmaker Allergan and now retired.
The Spanish-style California Mission Revival mansion was built in 1926 for Hamilton H. Cotton, a founding financier of San Clemente. It was modeled after a country home in San Sebastian, Spain, and designed by architect Carl Lindbom. The property originally took in 26 acres but over the years was divided into individual parcels.
It’s now comprised of two parcels totaling 5.45 seaside acres with 480 lineal feet on the beach and panoramic ocean views. The main residence is 9,000 square feet. There’s also an entertainment pavilion, a two-bedroom guest house and a lighted tennis court.
