Irvine-based “U” launched a creator platform that it says enables anyone to easily build, sell, and run their own bootcamp.
Bootcamps on U are cohort-based courses that can be live, on-demand or a mix of both and usually span several weeks. U gives creators tools, technology, and community to monetize their skills and earn income.
Unlike today’s online learning platforms where learners advance through content in a self-paced manner, bootcamps on U are designed to teach a team or group of people in an interactive real-time component.
“Creators are the professors of the future. We envision a world where the value of their knowledge and special skills can be unlocked, and surfaced to curious individuals,” said Elmer Morales, who founded U in 2020.
Creators can develop their own curricula, set their own schedule and even set their own prices without having to wait for approval. Previously, only established businesses could access software engineering talent to build sophisticated learning tools and websites.
Believing that creators should be rewarded for their hard work, U allows them to take 90% of the income they generate on its platform compared to 40%-60% on other platforms. More than 500 creators joined U when its exclusive, invite-only beta was released in September last year. It is now launching its public beta.
Anaheim-based BioPhotas Inc., a maker of therapeutic LED light therapy devices, announced a major product line extension.
The all-in-one Celluma Restore is the first LED device FDA-cleared for over-the-counter (OTC) to treat three common concerns of the mature individual in a single device: hair loss, aging skin, and general pain conditions. This is the 14th model in the Celluma SERIES.
“It’s great to add a Hair Restoration indication-for-use to our long list of treatment clearances from the FDA,” BioPhotas Chief Executive Patrick Johnson said, “Providing a single device that treats whole body aches and pains, fine lines and wrinkles, and hair loss on the scalp is the ultimate baby-boomer anti-aging device.”
The company said the product will be available in mid-August in the U.S.
