Newport Beach-based Pacific Investment Management Co. announced that Jamil Baz will rejoin the firm on May 2 as managing director and head of client analytics.
He will lead a team that generates studies and advice adhering to PIMCO clients’ investment requirements regarding asset allocation, risk management and portfolio construction.
Baz left PIMCO in 2008 to become the senior managing director and chief investment strategist at London-based Man GLG Partners, a $33 billion management fund for corporate pensions, endowments, fund of funds and high net-worth individuals around the world.
Baz worked at PIMCO’s London office in 2007 and 2008 when he managed global portfolios and helped build the firm’s global multiasset investment philosophy. He also teaches financial economics at the University of Oxford in England.
He will be based in Newport Beach and report to Ravi Mattu, managing director and global head of analytics, and Mihir Worah, managing director and chief investment officer of asset allocation.
