Coming Together

Kure It Cancer Research held its second annual Rivals Cup Golf Tournament on June 7 at Pelican Hill North Golf Course. The event raised $125,000, which will support cancer research at UCLA Jonsson and USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Centers.

Golfers came out to compete in a “shamble” or “best-ball twosome” format. There were three hole-in-one contests, and a longest drive and closest to the pin contest. The event also included interactive games such as fairway target game, blackjack, and wheel of shots.

Creating a Brighter Future

More than 170 supporters of Laura’s House gathered on May 10 at the Balboa Bay Resort for the fourth annual Brighter Futures Luncheon. The luncheon raised more than $105,000 to support the nonprofit’s programs helping to rebuild lives of Orange County families following domestic violence.

Sponsors included Aviso Legal Group LLP, CTC Global, Garnett Powers & Associates, and R.D. Olson Development.

The event highlighted the community work of the nonprofit and honored those who have partnered to advance its mission and support healthy relationships and teen dating abuse prevention and education for youth.

Each luncheon table featured personalized décor inspired by the theme of providing brighter futures for Laura’s House families.

Table designers included Balboa Bay Resort, Couture Flowers, Cowboy Winery, Hibner Design Group, HomeAid OC, Lido House Hotel, and Rogers Gardens.

Laura’s House also presented Brighter Futures Awards to the Arbonne Charitable Foundation for its efforts to support and empower youth and create awareness on the issue of teen violence and domestic abuse.

More than 400 guests attended the event, raising more than $170,000 to support the nonprofit’s mission of transforming the lives of abused, neglected, and at-risk children and their families.

The event featured designer shoe shopping on the hotel terrace, along with wine tastings, gourmet hors d’oeuvres, both a silent and live auction and an opportunity drawing. A runway fashion show by the fashion brand Grayse proved a fitting finale.
