Craig Realty Group in Newport Beach hired hospitality, retail consulting and brokerage firm Brandon-California to help brand and plan the tenant mix for the second phase of its Outlets at San Clemente.
The 325,000-square-foot outdoor mall opened in late 2015 and is now home to a Nike Factory Store, Calvin Klein, Cole Haan, Converse, Guess Factory Store, H&M, Nautica Factory Store, and New Balance Factory Store, among other merchants.
The second phase will feature a hotel and about 50 shops. Craig Realty, with the upcoming addition, wants to “elevate Outlets at San Clemente beyond the traditional outlet experience, creating a gathering place for dining, entertainment, special events, and fitness,” Chief Executive Steven Craig said.
Brandon-California in Newport Beach helped place Bungalow, Bear Flag Fish Co., Old Crow Smokehouse, Ways & Means Oyster House, Lemonade, and Ola Mexican Kitchen at Pacific City in Huntington Beach, which opened last year. Craig Realty also owns the Citadel Outlets in the City of Commerce and Cabazon Outlets in Riverside County.

Aloha from Hyundai
Hyundai Motor America Inc. in Fountain Valley offered a sneak peek of its Kona, a new crossover SUV that’s scheduled to hit U.S. dealer showrooms next year. The automaker named the vehicle after the Kona district of the Big Island of Hawaii, whose “energetic image and unique lifestyle matches the All-New Hyundai Kona’s dynamic character.”
Light truck and SUV sales grew 7.2% last year and accounted for 56% of the U.S. total. Kona may help Hyundai bridge the gap in its product lineup—it has the Santa Fe and Tucson SUVs but no pickups or smaller crossovers like Mazda’s CX-3, Honda’s CR-V or Toyota’s RAV4.
