NowRX raised over $10 million last month from small investors using SeedInvest to help with its expansion in Southern California, including its Irvine office.
NowRX offers same-day delivery of medications from its facility to anywhere in Orange County, saying “prescriptions are hand-delivered within 3-5 hours.”
It reports more than $9 million in revenue since its founding.
Earlier this year, it cut the bow on its 4,500-square-foot Irvine facility where 15 of its 45 employees reside. The Irvine building is “robotics-driven” meaning it requires fewer human personnel to run. However, the company will still be hiring six to eight new employees this year, according to a spokesperson.
The company was founded in 2016 by Southern California native Cary Breese and Chief Technology Officer Sumeet Sheokand. Its headquarters are in Mountain View, but Breese and other execs are in OC.
NowRX said it has more than 20,000 customers.
Its aim is “disrupting the $330 billion industry of retail pharmacy with same-day prescription delivery.” To date, the company said it’s filled more than 100,000 prescriptions.
SeedInvest is a New York-based startup founded in 2012 that functions much in the same way that Kickstarter does.
More than 2,700 investors took part in the NowRx funding, according to Breese.
