Two local ad agencies picked up top national honors at the annual American Advertising Awards, held last week during the American Advertising Federation’s ADMERICA Conference in Anaheim.
Amusement Park in Santa Ana won a gold ADDY in the “music with lyrics” category for a video promoting HARMAN International’s JBL brand of wireless speakers. The spot features Golden State Warrior Stephen Curry and the “Bigger Than Us” song by “basketballer-turned-rapper” Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers. It generated more than 500 million impressions without paid media, according to the agency.
Skiver Advertising Inc. in Costa Mesa was recognized with a gold ADDY in the “collateral material–brochure” category for a catalog it created for Electra Bicycle Co. in Vista.
Beating out some of the greatest agencies in the U.S. “is a big deal for an agency of our size,” said Chief Executive Jeremy Skiver, whose shop employs 17.
Winners were selected from about 40,000 entries that advanced from some 200 local AAF club competitions to 15 district-level tournaments. The local district included clubs in Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, Coastal California, the Inland Empire, and Palm Springs.
