Major indices rose in midday trading as oil prices rose.
The S&P 500 was up 1.3% to 2,048.17. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 1.2% to 17,575.35. The Nasdaq was up 1.2% to 5,013.44.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was up 2% to 2.27%.
The price of gold was down 0.2% to $1,061.
REAL ESTATE
Irvine-based CalAtlantic Group Inc. was up 3% to $37.65 and a $4.6 billion market cap. Credit Suisse upgraded the builder’s shares to “outperform” with a $47 price target. It initiated coverage in October with a “neutral” rating and a $45 price target.
TECHNOLOGY
Irvine-based Multi-Fineline Electronix Inc. was down 3% to $20.77 and a $507 million market cap on high volume.
