Aliso Viejo-based Microsemi Corp. was up 2.6% to $34.47 and a $3.3 billion market cap on high volume. By midday, the semiconductor maker had exceeded its 90-day full-day average share volume.

Irvine-based Local Corp. was down 7.3% to 37 cents and a $9 million market cap. The tech-based ads company said first-quarter net loss increased by 60% to $4.6 million compared with $2.8 million in the same period last year, with revenue falling 50% to $13.1 million compared with $26.2 million. Cash-on-hand at the end of the quarter March 31 was $2.3 million, and net cash used for operations in the first quarter was $1.8 million. Local Corp. in April hired Siemer & Associates to “accelerate and explore strategic alternatives.”
