The price of gold slipped 1.5% to $1,795.70.
The price for a barrel of oil rose 0.7% to $59.90.
TECHNOLOGY
Artificial intelligence company Veritone Inc. (Nasdaq: VERI) in Costa Mesa fell 7.5% to $43.48 per share for a market cap of $1.4 billion; despite today's fall, the shares have risen more than 50% since the start of the year. Analyst website SeekingAlpha.com said on Friday: “Steer firmly clear here: there's little to support Veritone's unexplained rally over the past year, and once the market sells off these phantom gains will be primed to burst.”
REAL ESTATE
CoreLogic Inc. (NYSE: CLGX), an Irvine-based provider of real estate data, rose 7% to $87.74 per share for a market cap of $6.4 billion. Bloomberg News reported earlier in the day that CoStar Group Inc. boosted its offer to acquire CoreLogic to $95.76 a share, topping a bid the property-data company accepted earlier this month.
