The S&P 500 was down 0.4% in midday trading to 3,227.89.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average also dipped 0.4%, to 28,512.53.
The Nasdaq fell 0.5% to 8,958.17.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond jumped 1.4% to 1.90%.
The price of gold was flat at $1,518.
A barrel of oil ticked down 0.1% to $61.66 a barrel.
TECHNOLOGY
Irvine-based Alteryx Inc. (NYSE:AYX) declined 3.4% to a $6.5 billion market cap on moderate volume. The data analytics software maker’s shares are up 68% year to date.
RETAIL
Boot Barn Holdings Inc. (NYSE: BOOT), also in Irvine, rose 3.9% to a $1.4 billion market cap in a recovery from Friday’s session when it fell 2.6%. Shares in the Western wear chain are up 132% on the year. Zacks Research today called Boot Barn a “strong buy,” sayings its consensus current year earnings by analysts have risen 5.4% in the past two months.
