Indexes declined on global growth concerns.
The S&P 500 dropped 1.5% for 2,689.74; the Dow Jones also declined 1.5%, to 25,013.98; the Nasdaq was down 1.7% to 7,247.93.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond decreased 1.3% to 2.67%.
The price of gold remained flat at $1,314.
The price of oil fell 3.4% to $52.17 a barrel.
RESTAURANTS
Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. (NYSE: CMG) jumped 14% to $598.77 for a $16.6 billion market cap after it reported fourth quarter earnings yesterday. The Newport Beach-based fast-casual restaurant chain reported earnings per share of $1.72 and revenue of $1.2 billion for the quarter, beating consensus estimate of $1.37 and $1.2 billion, respectively. Full-year revenue increased 8.7% to $4.9 billion.
HEALTHCARE
Mission Viejo-based Ensign Group Inc. (Nasdaq: ENSG) was up 11% to $49.11 for a $2.6 billion market cap. Shares of the home health care provider shot up after it came out yesterday with fourth quarter earnings that beat earnings-per-share expectations. It posted revenue of $537.8 million for the quarter, up 10% from a year ago period. Full-year revenue was up 12% to $1.8 billion.
