Genesis Motor North America Inc.’s customer base will soon see a refreshed version of the luxury automaker’s G90 sedan flagship, with some high-tech touches as it aims to redefine what luxury means in the automotive world.
The sedan’s refresh is the first since 2018, and there are plenty of new technologies to make up for lost time.
That includes an automatic door closure system and fingerprint authentication that starts up the vehicle’s engine and queues a driver’s personal settings.
The new G90’s engine can also be started when the door handle is touched if a user’s smartphone is close.
Software updates occur over the air, meaning drivers can skip having to go into a service center.
Outside of parking assist and collision avoidance features, G90 drivers can adjust their vehicle’s setting on features such as surround sound, ambient lighting, fragrance and other aspects Genesis calls the Mood Curator. The fragrance adjustor in the G90 is the first Genesis model to boast the feature.
The personalization is one thing the automaker has tried to build its brand around. “Designing personal, curated experiences for every customer to enjoy,” was what former CEO Mark Del Rosso told the Business Journal earlier this year is part of what differentiates the brand.
The sales numbers have been telling for the automaker, with the company’s November sales up 435% from the prior year as the company’s volume continues to grow. November marked the third month of vehicle sales above 5,000 for Genesis.
