BrandingBusiness in Irvine developed a logo that will help distinguish USB chargers certified by USB Implementers Forum Inc. as compatible with devices that use smaller Type-C USB ports, including laptops, tablets, smartphones, docking stations and other products.
The Beaverton, Ore.-based USB Implementers nonprofit supports advancement and adoption of USB technology. Its members include Intel Corp., Microsoft Corp., Broadcom Ltd. and Tustin-based Mophie LLC. It unveiled the logo, a USB Power Delivery specification and Certified USB Charger compliance program at the Intel Developers Forum in San Francisco this month.
The logo, which had to be “incorporated by the [equipment manufacturers] and understood by the general public across the globe,” features a red lightning bolt that symbolizes power and charge. It’s anchored inside a blue letter U to communicate the universal nature of the charger, according to the agency. The logo also identifies the charger’s electrical power capability in watts.
“This is just the latest example of how we integrate ourselves into the DNA of our clients to create and support branding platforms that have a global impact,” said Ryan Rieches, one of BrandingBusiness’ four partners.
