An Insider’s View Of Brea

What makes your city special to businesses and residents?

Brea, known as the city of oil, oranges, and opportunity, connects major transportation routes and employment centers across Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties. From local retailers to multinational corporate headquarters, businesses thrive in the city due to its rich economic climate.

Brea’s diversified business sector includes manufacturing, professional corporations, service industries and retail and distribution outlets. A strong commercial and industrial sector offers employment opportunities and a strong tax base allows residents to enjoy a high level of public services rarely found in a community of nearly 44,000 people. Brea is well known as a regional retail center offering every conceivable type of product and service, including the Brea Mall. Daily, Brea draws more than 120,000 people to work, shop and be entertained in the city.

What advantages does your city offer businesses that other cities don’t?

Brea has everything a business needs to thrive and grow. We offer business owners quality business parks, competitive lease rates, low business license fees, and an array of community amenities.

Brea prides itself on being business friendly and provides support for businesses to promote a prosperous local economy. The city offers low-cost business license fees and permits, streamlined permit processing, no overlapping fees, friendly staff, and business outreach programs.

To reinforce the city’s economic development efforts, bebrea.com provides opportunities to share information and better connect with our business community 24/7. It includes a business tool kit with helpful takeaways, development opportunities, demographics, statistics and permitting guidance. We are also fortunate to have a great relationship with our local chamber of commerce and support many of its programs.

What are things that aren’t well-known about your city that should be?

Brea is an active city that takes its recreation seriously with three regional parks, 13 community parks, two public golf courses, a community center and a dog park. The Tracks at Brea is a 4-mile, multi-use trail that runs east to west through the city. It includes amenities such as, outdoor fitness equipment, seating areas, restrooms, bike fix-it stations and educational storyboards.

As an avid golfer, I appreciate the two municipal golf courses in town. Brea Creek Golf Course is a popular 25-acre, nine-hole community golf course, complete with driving range. Birch Hills Golf Course is an 18-hole executive course featuring redesigned holes, an improved driving range, and upgraded clubhouse.

What’s a fun thing to do in your city?

Brea’s done a wonderful job blending responsive city services, a lively local economy, exciting shopping and dining options, quality housing, and plenty of places to play. Brea Downtown is a destination offering a variety of dining options, movie theaters and the Brea Improv comedy club. The Brea community takes pride in its image as a City of Art. Brea is host to the Curtis Theatre, a performing arts theatre; a 185-piece Arts in Public Places outdoor sculpture collection; and the nationally recognized Brea Art Gallery. By including art throughout the city, Brea has earned its reputation as one of North Orange County’s premiere cultural venues. Come by and see for yourself!
