HB Paddle Board Brand Sells for $40M

Stand-up paddle board maker Jimmy Styks LLC in Huntington Beach was acquired by Clearfield, Utah-based Vista Outdoor Inc. in a $40 million, all-cash deal.

Jimmy Styks was founded in 2009 by Kyle Reeves and Jeremy Wilkens, who will remain with Vista. The SUP brand will be integrated into Vista’s Outdoor Products division, which includes Bollé eyewear.

“The opportunity to join Vista Outdoor allows us to accelerate growth through channel expansion in the U.S. and internationally, as well as invest in additional product innovation,” Reeves said in a statement.

Vista, which has a market value of about $2.8 billion, will add Jimmy Styks to an overall roster of more than 30 brands—including Federal Premium, Savage Arms, Bushnell and Primos—that specialize in ammunition, firearms and outdoor accessories.

“Vista Outdoor’s established customer channels and our strengths in sales, marketing, distribution and consumer insights will support our ability to grow the Jimmy Styks brand,” said Chief Executive Mark DeYoung. “We will also focus on promoting and developing new products and expanding applications for this emerging platform.”
