Experian PLC’s latest round of TV commercials continues its spotlight on the proliferation of personal-data theft and its credit-monitoring service, which uses proprietary technology to peruse content posted on parts of the internet not indexed by conventional search engines.
One ad features a vending machine that instead of dispensing sodas or candy bars, spits out Social Security cards and driver licenses. Another ad shows a bird’s eye view of a suburban neighborhood teeming with burglars.
“If theft was this frequent, you’d definitely do something about it,” the narrator says as masked men load vehicles with stolen goods. “Well, it is. An identity is stolen every two seconds.”
In-house ad agency Cooler developed the ads, which are airing on TLC and other channels.
“This team makes me so darn proud,” Chief Creative Director Todd Miller said in a LinkedIn post about the ads.
Experian is one of three major credit reporting agencies operating in the U.S. The company’s North American operations are headquartered in Costa Mesa; it’s incorporated in Dublin-Ireland.
Still on the Run
Hyundai Motor America Inc. in Fountain Valley continued as the official automotive partner of the Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon on March 18.
“Southern California is the home of Hyundai’s U.S. headquarters, which makes us the perfect partner to race to the Sketchers Performance Los Angeles Marathon finish line with,” Director Marketing Communications Paul Imhoff said. “This partnership is a great way to connect with the local community, the athletes, share our latest product, and expose people to the Hyundai brand.”

The sponsorship included placement within the official race app and across the marathon’s social and digital channels. The automaker also aired its spring sales event spot during the marathon broadcast on KTLA.

United Sports Brands’ Cutters, known for its football gloves featuring C-TACK proprietary grip technology, has unveiled a new brand logo and slogan, “Grip The Greatness.”
Cutters is the official glove of national youth football organizations USA Football and Pop Warner. The new look provides “sharper football focus” and “elevates the brand to a bolder, more tenacious attitude that fits so well into the game,” Senior Vice President of Marketing Mary Horwath said in a statement.
The logo, featuring an angular green letter C, will be displayed on the new line of gloves released this spring.

Eclipse Experience
Emmy award-winning violinist Damien Escobar and pianist William Joseph star in a 1-minute TV commercial featuring Mitsubishi Motors North America Inc.’s 2018 Eclipse Cross, performing a version of “I Wanna Rock” by Twisted Sister as the vehicle speeds through a rainy, urban setting.
“The juxtaposition of classical instruments playing a contemporary song adds emotion and intrigue to the cinematic footage of the Eclipse Cross,” Chief Marketing Officer Francine Harsini said in a statement. “Eclipse Cross is not your typical crossover; it is defiant and clever and offers savvy show-and-tellers a vehicle that’s loaded with style and features at a great price that demands to be seen much like this campaign.”
The Cypress-based automaker’s media placement will include network and cable TV, online video, outdoor billboards and digital.
