Newport Beach-based homebuilder William Lyon Homes made a series of executive management changes, including a new role for the company’s namesake and founder, Gen. William Lyon, and a new stand-alone chief executive.
William H. Lyon will succeed his father as chairman of the board and executive chairman. Gen. Lyon, who turned 93 this month, will remain a board member and serve in the new position of chairman emeritus.
William H. Lyon will give up his co-chief executive officer role as part of the changes at the company, whose market value is $450 million.
Matthew Zaist, who had served alongside William H. Lyon as co-CEO since last July, will now be sole chief executive and president.
William H. Lyon will continue to work with Zaist “to establish, implement and direct long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies for the company,” the builder said.
