Evasyst, an Irvine-based maker of a gaming app designed to help users connect to friends’ live games, and discover new parties, groups, and people to play with, was chosen to join Helsinki-based gambling company Veikkaus’ Innovation Challenge Week.
The company’s inclusion at the recent event is part of a focus on technologies that provide collaboration between Veikkaus and other esports startups.
Evasyst provides a live digital platform where people can watch movies and TV, or play online games and chat online. President Justin Weissberg said Evasyst was planning to spend a week in Finland coming up with an idea for a joint business opportunity between the two companies.
The winning proposal at the Finland event will get an implementation contract.

The company was formed in 2015, and graduated from EvoNexus’ business incubator in January.
The gaming platform released the initial version of its product in March, and has offices in San Diego and Helsinki as of late last year.
Evasyst recently hired eight new employees, bringing the team total to 15.
In January, Evasyst raised $2.2 million in a round led by Irvine-based Cove Fund II, with Santa Monica-based Mucker Capital, Kansas-based Leawood Venture Capital and Irvine-based Cove Fund I joining in.
The latest round brought the company’s total funding to nearly $4 million.
The company is currently raising a Series A round, company officials told the Business Journal.
