Ramada Plaza Anaheim will become a Wyndham Garden hotel after a $4 million renovation scheduled to take six months.
The property is a mile from Disneyland Resort and Anaheim Convention Center on West Katella Avenue. Parkwest General Contractors in Anaheim is doing the work.
Industry sources called the branding shift a lateral move—Ramada Plaza and Wyndham Garden are similar flags, and both brands belong to Wyndham Hotel Group in Parsippany, N.J.—needed because of increased area competition from new development and renovation.
Hotel growth in the area stems in part from Disneyland’s Star Wars Land, planned for a 2019 opening, and the convention center’s 200,000-square-foot addition, which is scheduled to open this year.
Both will likely expand travel and tourism.
