To build Alignment Healthcare Inc., founder John Kao has assembled a team deeply versed in the healthcare industry. Execs and board members include:

• Dawn Maroney, president since 2014, was chief Medicare officer for Blue Shield of California.

• Thomas Freeman, chief financial officer since 2017, was on the healthcare team at General Atlantic, and a healthcare expert on the Investment Banking division at Morgan Stanley.

• Donald Furman, chief clinical officer since 2013, was co-founder of CareMore Medical Group and practiced internal medicine and gastroenterology from 1981 to 1997.
 
• Dinesh Kumar, chief medical officer since 2019, was SVP clinical transformation for Devita Medical Group.

• Joseph Konowiecki, on board since 2014 and now chairman, is also chairman and CEO of Apollo Enterprise Solutions. He was the CEO of Future Solutions with UnitedHealth Group’s Ovations division and general counsel at PacifiCare Health Systems Inc. He’s also on the RAND Healthcare Advisory Board.
 
• David Hodgson, on board since 2014, is managing director and vice chairman of General Atlantic, which he joined in 1982. He’s also on the board of directors and chair emeritus of Johns Hopkins Hospital.  

• Mark McClellan, on board since 2014, was administrator of Center for Medicare and Medicaid for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and was commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

• Robbert Vorhoff, on board since 2014, is managing director, management committee member and the global head of healthcare at General Atlantic.
 
• Thomas Carella, board member since 2017, has served as a managing director at Warburg Pincus since 2016. He was also partner in the Merchant Banking Division of Goldman Sachs and global head of the division’s private equity activities in the healthcare sector.
 
• Jeffrey Margolis, on board since 2014, was founding CEO of TriZetto Corp., which he led to a successful IPO and a $1.4B private equity buyout. He was previously manager of healthcare consulting at Anderson (now Accenture). He currently serves on board of directors of Hoag Hospital and is chairman of the Hoag Clinic in Newport Beach. Margolis also serves on the advisory boards of the University of California, Irvine’s Center for Healthcare Management & Policy and Center for Digital Transformation.
 
• Jacqueline Kosecoff, on board since 2017, is a managing partner of Moriah Partners and also a senior adviser of Warburg Pincus. She was a senior executive at UnitedHealth Group-PacifiCare and also was on board of directors of Athenahealth Inc.  

• Margaret McCarthy, on board since 2020, was EVP of operations and technology for Aetna, which was acquired by CVS Health.
