Newport Beach-based Blue C Advertising rolled out new advertising for client Wahoo’s Fish Taco.
The shop said it was tapped by the Santa Ana-based restaurant chain to create marketing that promotes a gift card program for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society that is running through the end of the year. Wahoo’s plans to give 5% from each card sold to the organization.
So far, Wahoo’s restaurants in California carry the cards. Stores in Hawaii, Colorado and Texas plan to sell them in the coming months. About 50 restaurants plan to participate.
Blue C designed the promotion, which includes posters, ceiling danglers, table tents, gift card stickers and other in-restaurant ad displays, to promote the campaign.
In other news, Wahoo’s revamped its Web site, which includes contests, menu information and videos.
One snippet showed people waiting in line for the grand opening of Wahoo’s location at Fashion Island in Newport Beach, which opened in June.
Wahoo’s also is promoting new handbags, which are made with seat belts and created by Santa Ana-based designer Harveys.
About 250 of them were created and they cost about $140 each, according to the company’s Web site. Wahoo’s is urging people to preorder and says all sales will go to the Festival of the Children Foundation and Share our Strength, two charities that benefit children.

New Exec
Irvine-based HeilBrice Inc. advertising shop continues its online push by hiring an executive.
The shop said it brought on Jon Farjo as vice president of interactive business. He’ll oversee Web work for new and existing clients, including e-commerce, Web site design and development, banner advertising, search engine optimization and online media planning.
Hal Brice, the shop’s chief executive, said it has been working hard to strengthen its interactive services, which is “one of the most critical elements of a successful marketing communications campaign.”
Farjo was previously user experience designer for General Electric Co.’s Costa Mesa office.
HeilBrice has spent the past year boosting its digital services and working on an e-commerce application.
The shop also has been working on campaigns that create ongoing dialogues with people through blogs and more.
“The advertising industry is rapidly changing and we’re changing with it,” Brice said in a past interview. “We’re seeing more and more options for our clients to reach their customers with the continued growth of new media.”
Last year, HeilBrice moved to new digs in Irvine and has been hiring some folks to help with new accounts, including Orange-based Boot Barn Inc., which sells Western-style apparel in more than 30 stores across California and the Southwest, and Costa Mesa-based David August Inc., a custom men’s clothier.
