Village Green Foods buys an Irvine building

Village Green Foods, an Irvine restaurant owner and manufacturer of soups, sauces and salad dressings, will move its headquarters and food processing operation to a newly purchased building less than a mile from its original location of 31 years.

Village Green bought the 12,920-square-foot building at 1732 Kaiser in Irvine for $1.25 million. It will move from its longtime Skypark Circle address in the first quarter of 2002, after renovating the new building and constructing a kitchen there.

Willie Rosoff, president of the family-owned business, said the company decided purchasing the building would be more cost effective than renegotiating a lease.

Village Green Foods, which cooks other restaurants’ products to their specifications and manufactures food items, has 12 employees and plans to add two near the end of the year, Rosoff said. The company also owns Back Bay Rowing and Running Club Restaurant in Costa Mesa’s South Coast Plaza.
