U.S. Labor Secretary to Open Conference
U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine Chao is set to open the U.S. Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce’s 16th Annual Asian American Business Conference this week in Irvine.
Chao’s speech will kick off events at a Wednesday reception. The conference, which runs Wednesday through Friday, brings together Asian American suppliers with corporate and government buyers.
Organizers bill the event as the largest Asian American business conference in the U.S.
The confab is set to take place at the Hyatt Regency Irvine hotel. Organizers expect to top attendance at last year’s conference, which drew more than 1,000.
The three-day event, held annually to coincide with Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, kicks off Wednesday with a celebrity golf tournament at the Oak Creek Golf Club in Irvine.
Frank Jao, chairman and chief executive of Huntington Beach-based Bridgecreek Group Inc., played a big role in putting together the meeting.
The real estate developer known for his work in Little Saigon started the West Coast arm of the U.S. Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce in 2001 and is a financial backer. He’s president of the West Coast arm.
