Tustin Base Under Attack in ‘Pearl Harbor’

Orange Is Backdrop For Two Films; Nine Dots Helps Nonprofits Online

The former Tustin Marine Corps Air Facility is set to be used for portions of the new Walt Disney Co. film “Pearl Harbor,” directed by Michael Bay (“Armageddon,” “The Rock”) and featuring a cast that includes Ben Affleck, Alec Baldwin and Cuba Gooding Jr.

The film is scheduled to begin shooting in the base’s landmark blimp hangar later this month, according to Orange County Film Commissioner Janice Arrington.

The OC set is one of many for the $145 million film that is mostly shooting around Oahu as well as a gigantic water tank built in Baja California for the movie “Titanic.” “Pearl Harbor” is slated to open on May 23, 2001, just months before the 60th anniversary of the Japanese attack on the naval base on December 7th, 1941.
