Three Orange County-based travel agencies ranked among the largest 100 nationally in 1999 air sales volume according to Business Travel News, a trade publication.
Boeing Travel Management, Westminster, ranked No. 17 with $240 million in 1999 air sales; Irvine-based Sundance Travel International ranked No. 32 with $140 million; and Foothill Ranch-based First Class International ranked No. 84 with $30 million. Sundance ranked No. 3 on last year’s Business Journal list of OC’s largest agencies, Boeing ranked No. 4 and First Class ranked No. 11. The Business Journal list ranks agencies based on total sales volume for the 12 months ended in June each year.
Seven others among the nation’s largest 50 agencies in terms of air sales have operations in OC: American Express, Carlson Wagonlit Travel, Navigant, Rosenbluth International, Maritz Travel Adelman Travel Systems and AAA Corporate Travel Services. All were among the largest 25 agencies in Orange County on last year’s Business Journal list.
According to the BTN survey, both the Bay area and Los Angeles also have three locally based agencies among the largest 100, while San Diego has one.
