THE FUTURE OF THE HOTEL INDUSTRY
Survey of 4,000 hospitality industry professionals by Arthur Andersen and New York University
Seventy percent believe that global hotel companies will experience strong to very strong growth in this century. More than half believe that strategic alliances or mergers and acquisitions will once again be the No. 1 vehicle for international expansion, while 50% believe public markets will once again be the most important source of capital, followed by institutional investors and pension funds. Two-thirds think franchising in the future will be dominated by a few multibrand conglomerates and rely on international markets for growth.
