FINANCIAL WORRIES OF AFFLUENT BABY BOOMERS
Survey by U.S. Trust of baby boomers among the top 1% wealthiest Americans
Despite an average increase in net worth of 33% since 1993, the biggest worry of 72% of affluent baby boomers is still that the next generation will have a more difficult time financially than their own generation. Their second-greatest concern, expressed by 67%, is that stock market gains will be lower in the future than they’ve been in recent years. But fewer affluent boomers are concerned about tax increases: only 51% said they feared taxes would rise steeply over the next few years, compared to 73% in 1995. And only 35% worry that they will lose their jobs or go out of business, compared to 56% in 1995.
