Newport Beach-based BirchStreet Systems Inc., a maker of software for running hotels and restaurants, said Friday it received an investment from Dallas-based private equity firm PlumTree Partners LLC.
Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
The deal makes PlumTree a minority shareholder in BirchStreet, the company said.
PlumTree may contribute more capital in the future to fund expansion.
BirchStreet’s software automates common business tasks such as ordering, inventory management and accounting.
It counts as customers some of the world’s biggest hotel brands, including Hyatt, Hilton, Omni and Marriott.
Its software can cut hotel and restaurant chains’ procurement costs by ensuring that they are meeting the terms of contracts set out between their corporate parents and suppliers.
BirchStreet recently expanded its offerings to market to education, engineering, healthcare and public safety organizations, among others.
BirchStreet has some 40 workers here and has a development office in India.
The privately held company, which started in 2001, doesn’t disclose sales.
