Newport Beach-based SM & A; said its profit and revenue rose in the third quarter as the consulting company added new clients outside its core aerospace and defense industries.
SM & A; said its profit rose 53% to $2.6 million, versus a year earlier, on a 22% rise in sales to $19.7 million.
SM & A; is a consultancy that helps businesses mainly in the defense, homeland security, aerospace, information technology, architecture and engineering sectors win government and commercial contracts.
The company said it added five new customers in the period, with four in industries outside of aerospace and defense.
SM & A; also said it had higher travel and compensation expenses a year earlier.
