It’s that time of year when I get softhearted verging on
softheaded, reminding everybody how lucky we are to live and work in OC.
So here goes.
This past year has been a particularly good one. Home prices,a good if imperfect gauge of well-being,continued to rise, our employment picture remained the envy of the nation, the air kept getting cleaner and the weather was beautiful as always. Television continued its soap-opera infatuation with us, a sign that for whatever reason, other people find this place intriguing.
Yes, we have too much war, death, taxes and suffering in the world. Personal tragedies have made this a sad year for many in OC. We face issues and challenges in the county, and it’s doubtful whether our collective bounty has made us happier or better people.
But whether we appreciate it or not, we’re blessed.
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanza, Happy Holidays.
