SBC Profit Slips, Cutting 7,000 Jobs

SBC Communications Inc. said Wednesday that fourth-quarter net income fell slightly, but revenue rose for the third quarter in a row on the strength of data and high-speed Internet sales. In related news, the company said it expects to eliminate 7,000 jobs in 2005, or 4.4% of its 163,000 person work force.
