Huntington Beach-based Quiksilver Inc. has three offers for its struggling Rossignol division, according to French newspaper La Tribune.
Potential acquirers include investment funds that specialize in turning around businesses, according to La Tribune and Reuters.
The paper didn’t name the possible buyers.
In June, Quiksilver said it was “looking at all the strategic possibilities” for Rossignol’s struggling business selling skis, snowboards and other gear.
The company paid $500 million for France’s Skis Rossignol SA in 2005 as a way to expand beyond its mainstay clothes and shoes inspired by surfing and skateboarding.
From the start, Quiksilver faced skepticism over the deal. Rossignol was losing money and market share before the buy.
Analysts say Quiksilver is likely to sell off Rossignol’s business selling skis and snowboards and keep the name for clothes.
