Volunteers in support of Girls Inc. of Orange County, a national youth organization helping girls ages 5-18, dug a trench for an 8-foot safety wall at its main center in Costa Mesa on June 17. The wall will increase the safety and well-being of the children at the center.

Kevin Rosenburg, managing director of BridgeGate in Irvine, led an effort to raise money for the Irvine Public Schools Foundation. Households in Rosenburg’s community made donations to the foundation that were matched on a dollar-for-dollar basis by BridgeGate. Together the fundraiser compiled over$4,400 for the schools.

Pacific Bell assembled more than 300 walkers for the 14 Annual AIDS Walk Orange County. Pacific Bell estimates that it will raise $30,000 for the AIDS Services Foundation, bringing this year’s total contribution to more than $45,000.

Other beneficiaries of this event include the Simon Youth Foundation and the Flo-Jo Memorial Community Empowerment Foundation. Florence Griffith Joyner, a five-time Olympic Medallist, resided in Orange County until her death in 1998.
