The owner of surfwear maker Gotcha International LP is looking to take an Internet-based video game and software developer public.
Irvine-based Planetwide Games Inc. said Thursday it plans to combine with SP Holding Corp., a publicly held shell company, in order to take its listing on the over-the-counter bulletin board.
Marvin Winkler, owner of Gotcha, is Planetwide’s chief executive.
SP Holding stockholders are set to own about 5% of the combined company, with Planetwide shareholders owning the rest.
“Planetwide Games has made significant progress during the past year and we are confident that a public listing will increase our visibility with current and potential partners and better position Planetwide Games to fund and implement its growth plan,” Winkler said in a release.
One of Planetwide’s main products is Comic Book Creator, a self-publishing software program that lets users create custom comic books and then publish them for friends online or in print.
Winkler is the owner and former chief executive of Newport Beach-based Gotcha, which filed for bankruptcy in 2002, but since has emerged and continues to operate today.
