The Building Owners and Managers Association’s Orange County arm recently held its 15th annual awards banquet. LBA Inc. was presented the office building of the year award for MacArthur Plaza at 19000 MacArthur Boulevard. The excellence in management award was given to Trammell Crow Co. for Jamboree Center in Irvine. Transwestern Commercial Services was named the winner of the office building of the year in the 250,000- to 499,999-square-foot category for The Atrium in Irvine. Birtcher Properties’ Kathryn Leigh was awarded principal member of the year. Dana Casassa was named associate member of the Year. Additionally, Ronald Bartlo, architect, was presented with the professional member of the year award.

The Orange County Red Cross, Santa Ana, has collected more than $3 million locally for the American Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund. The money will be used for Sept. 11 relief efforts. Additionally, the organization honored eight women and one women’s group at the ninth annual Clara Barton Spectrum awards for outstanding women in OC. Recipients were Corona del Mar’s Margaret Sprague, Santa Ana’s Cathey Kazanjy, Orange’s Shannon Tucker, Orange’s Dr. Laura Mosqueda, Santa Ana’s Heidi Schnell-Cisneros, Irvine’s Suzanne Robert, Garden Grove’s Alicia Perez, and Anaheim’s Judith Partridge. The Assistance League of Santa Ana was also recognized.

Santa Fe Springs-based Vans Inc. honored Perkowitz + Ruth Architects of Long Beach as its consultant of the year.

Altoon + Porter Architects LLP won a design and development award from the International Council of Shopping Centers for its work on The Shops at Mission Viejo.

The Building Industry Association’s Orange County chapter honored civil engineer Richard Hunsaker of Hunsaker and Associates at its tribute to excellence dinner. Hunsaker, who founded Hunsaker and Associates with Doug Snyder, Tom McGannon and John Michler in 1976, was honored for his work in the homebuilding industry.

Krystal Froelich was named staff employee of the year by Adecco Technical, Irvine.

L.C. “Bob” Albert-son Jr., president of HOPE Housing of America and president of the HomeAid America board of directors, received the industry leader award from the Los Angeles Sales and Marketing Council.

Saddleback Memorial Medical Center named five recipients of its Saddleback Memorial Foundation’s spirit of philanthropy awards. The California Emergency Physicians Medical Group was named organization of the year. San Clemente-resident Jerald Stafford was awarded physician of the year. Merlin and Edna Sant were named philanthropists of the year. San Clemente resident Susan Fitch was named employee of the year. And Laguna Woods resident Thomas Beckwith was awarded community leader of the year.

Blue C Communications, an advertising agency in Newport Beach, was honored with two Addy Awards from the American Advertising Federation.

The 8th Annual Castle of Dreams Dinner & Auction raised $185,000 in net proceeds for the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Ana. Donald Kennedy of First American Corp. and wife Dorothy were honored.

Advertising agency Lawrence & Ponder Ideaworks, Newport Beach, captured seven awards,four gold and three silvers,at this year’s Golden Advocate Awards, which is sponsored by the Healthcare Public Relations & Marketing Association of Southern California.

Legacy Partners Residen-tial Inc., Irvine, was named builder of the year by Multifamily Executive magazine.

Providence Speech and Hearing Center, Orange, awarded center founder Dr. Margaret Anne Inman with a lifetime achievement award. Former center patient Mick Martin was given the help, hope, love award for his achievements.

Communications agency MD & A;, Newport Beach, was awarded a silver award at this year’s Advertising Age Hispanic creative awards ceremony. The award was granted for outstanding creativity in the alcoholic beverage category.

Will Cooper, Sr., founder and chairman of Costa Mesa-based WNC & Associates Inc. was honored by LINC Housing, a Southern California nonprofit specializing in affordable housing. Cooper was honored for his contributions to the industry.

The winners of the 2001 health care service excellence summit awards were announced at the Health Care Service Excellence Association conference in Newport Beach. Recipients were: Ralph Hillman, Daron Igwe, Sherry King, and Dr. Richard Doering of Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, and the Community Relationship Improvement Program at St. Joseph Hospital.
