Deloitte & Touche, Costa Mesa, appointed Karen S. Stock senior manager in the Southern California/Nevada financial counseling services group. The 26-year industry veteran rejoins the firm after working for Benefit Funding Services Group, formerly a division of Deloitte & Touche.
Jay W. Donovan was appointed principal at Glenn M. Gelman & Associates, Santa Ana. Donovan will oversee the tax division of the firm and will continue as senior tax manager on several of the firm’s accounts.

Ken Grime was appointed vice president, corporate finance and administration of V & M; Restoration Inc., Anaheim. Prior to this appointment, Grime worked in the heavy construction-equipment industry for 10 years.

Richard S. Cook joined Targeted Solutions Consulting Group Inc., Costa Mesa, as senior consultant. Cook specializes in operations management and productivity improvement.

Education
Chapman University named Ham Shirvani, Ph.D., its provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. Shirvani, who takes his post in July, comes to Orange County from City University of New York’s Queens College.
The University of California, Irvine, appointed Iris Ingram associate dean for administration at its College of Medicine. Ingram assumes a new position created in October.
Edward Hernandez, Ed.D., chancellor of Rancho Santiago Community College District, was selected to chair the American Council on International Intercultural Education. The council focuses on adding global information to the curriculum of all academic disciplines.

The Orange County Fair & Exposition Center, Costa Mesa, appointed Ruby Lau public affairs director.
Event Planning
Masterpiece Productions, Newport Beach, hired Alison Baker as project manager and David Anderson as assistant project manager. Masterpiece also promoted Kelly A. Howland to senior project manager; Eric Nicoll to director of marketing; and Steven M. Norton to president and CEO. Mark Lorimer, account executive, has added the role of meeting planner/conference services manager to his current responsibilities.

Holiday Inn, Laguna Hills, appointed Pat Henry director of sales and marketing.
Ralf Brabandt was appointed assistant manager, fine dining and beverage at the Hilton Anaheim. Brabandt was previously at the Dresden Hilton in Germany.
James R. Spadoni joined Tustin Ranch Golf Club as its assistant general manager and director of golf operations. Spadoni was previously director of golf operations at Meriwether National Golf in Beaverton, Ore.
Pat Brkich was promoted from Western region sales manager to assistant director of sales and catering of the Sheraton Newport Beach Hotel. Also, Lori Lynn Gable, formerly with the Hilton Suites in Anaheim, was selected to be corporate sales manager for the Orange County area. Joel Koper returned to the Sheraton as assistant general manager.

The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Ana hired Heather A. McKenzie to its new position of executive vice president of the Boys & Girls Club Foundation, major gifts officer. McKenzie heads up the effort to secure major operating gifts and all planned gifts to the foundation.
Habitat for Humanity of Orange County, Santa Ana, selected Greg Compton as its president and executive director. Compton has been a Habitat volunteer for more than two years and recently was the vice president of family partnership.

Irvine-based PriceNet USA.com, an international e-commerce company, named Allen N. Kimble chief financial officer. Kimble was most recently financial consultant to Xtranet Systems Inc., Santa Ana and CFO and part-owner of Trans Mobile Solutions Inc.
Viking Components Inc., Rancho Santa Margarita, appointed Dan Moczarny director of product marketing. He will be responsible for expanding Viking’s product line and enhancing the company’s position in the memory, flash and communication product marketplaces.
Sage Software Inc., an Irvine company providing PC-based accounting and business management software, promoted James R. Eckstaedt to senior vice president and chief financial officer.

David Buskirk was promoted to president of Navigant International/Southwest for the Denver-based travel management company. He was previously president and COO of Associated Travel in Santa Ana, which was acquired by Navigant in 1997. The 26-year industry veteran will oversee company activities in California, Nevada, Arizona, north Texas and Hawaii from the Santa Ana office. Buskirk, who has been with Associated/Navigant for 13 years, reports to Thomas Nulty, president and COO of Navigant International and former president of Associated Travel.
